WCM joins the world’s largest volunteer effort

West Creek Media, armed with sunscreen, water, and the Clean Swell app, entered Will Rogers State Beach this past Saturday morning along with Heal the Bay, Gruen Associates (Thanks, Kevin, for being site captain), Girl Scouts, St. Genevieve School and other awesome community members to participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day. With nearly 800,000 volunteers worldwide helping to collect more than 18 million pounds of trash last year, this year’s effort is sure to be another success. Many thanks to everyone at Tower 15 (photo below) for braving the heat and making Will Rogers State Beach beautiful. Our site alone had: 270 volunteers, 60 of which brought their own supplies (thanks!), 146 pounds of trash collected, 40 pounds recyclables, and our most unusual item was a chessboard.  International coastal cleanup occurs every third Saturday in September along more than 25,000 miles of coastal and inland shoreline.

WCM Monarch Caterpillar and Butterfly Project Announced

CALL TO ACTION: Monarch Caterpillars and Butterflies have declined 90% over the past 20 years.  This devastating decrease is directly due to the loss of milkweed – their only food source.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Plant pesticide-free, Non-GMO milkweed native to your region.

OUR PLEDGE: In lieu of this critical and potential extinction of Monarch Caterpillars and Butterflies, West Creek Media™ has formed The WCM Monarch Caterpillar and Butterfly Project, a resource to help restore Monarch habitat and bring awareness to communities.  A portion of all sales from the book “Kibble: The Monarch Caterpillar Afraid to Get Wings” aids this project by encouraging communities and individuals to plant our free wildflower seeds beneficial to all pollinators. For more information about the WCM Monarch Caterpillar and Butterfly Project and how to get free Kibble Wildflower seeds, visit our resource page, shop, or contact us directly.
